  1. Given their goal was 200, this means they are willing to admit to 12.5% compliance, which is absolutely abysmal, and yet they’re still trying to stick to the claim of „Oh gun owners just don’t know how to comply well enough.“

No, you dumb fucks, gun owners don’t want to comply with this trash. Gun owners want you to admit that this whole thing was pointless political pandering and toss it.

And here the USA has threatened our sovereignty.

The Federal Government should be holding training sessions and handing out guns instead

Feds have spent $350 Million on bureaucracy for the program so far. At this pace, should only take another millenium and a few $Trillion to buy back all the firearms on the current list ( whick kept being added to without Parliamentary approval ).
How do you spell “ yet Another classic Boondoggle „?

I support Carney for his economic ambitions. But, we need firearms more than ever in these times, continuing with the gun buyback right now is insanity.

  5. Well, that ought to put a huge dent in gun crime with guns smuggled across our border. /s

I’m actually surprised they didn’t pose with the pile for a photo-op

The people selling them are not the people on the criminals. Useless

“We know that they are lying, they know that they are lying, they even know that we know they are lying, we also know that they know we know they are lying too, they of course know that we certainly know they know we know they are lying too as well, but they are still lying. ”

  9. I can’t tell if they’re actually stupid, or if they just think we’re really stupid.

Perhaps we should hold off for a few decades while we see how the US acts lol.

When you think about it, that 200 had to be R-class firearms in terms of what they knew they could get. The reporting doesn’t provide any more details than the 25 firearms total, so I’m interested to know if those 25 were actually part of the 200 estimated. If other reports are true, at least two of those were prohibited lower receivers, so prohibited parts.

In terms of overall compliance, that’s comically abysmal for a policy that will have no meaningful impact on firearm crime. If you pull the StatCan data as far back as the 1960s, it’s clear that total homicides only crept up despite every new firearm regulation introduced since then. The current batch of laws and the ones likely to hit in March will have the exact same effect: none at all. We aren’t taking steps to improve the lot of the population, we aren’t building a sense of community effectively, and all this under the clouds of threatened sovereignty. You’d think we’d learn our lesson and accept that what we are doing societally needs a lot of fine-tuning and that, as many European nations know, having a population competently trained in firearms handling is a defense boon. But no! I guess despite the data, going all in on a polemical BS policy is the way to go apparently.

For the amount that they spent, this is abysmal.

As deep a hole they’ve dug for themselves by continuing this program despite its unpopularity, the liberals can still save face by canceling it before it goes nationwide. After that, it’ll be easy ammo for the opposition.

Are we forgetting that our country is currently being threatened with invasion and annexation by a nuclear superpower? We should be rolling out a gun buying program at this point. Use those rifle clubs and sport shooting ranges for more than just fear mongering and easy votes.

100% pure and utter waste of money and will not in any way cause a reduction in any crime. You know what criminals don’t do? follow the laws.

I guarantee that they posted the larger number between number of guns and number of gun owners. That means fewer than 25 owners came forward. It could be a dozen owners participated. I mean it could mean 5 people did. Probably old men who were scared of the consequences. This has failed miserably.  Repeal the OICs now and end this project.

So wait we are disarming civilians when I’m being told by every second article in the mainstream media that Canada is next for Trump ?

  18. Hey did they ever hire those 1000 border agents as promised??? No? Didn’t think so, thats just too hard, are they really doing anything to crack down on gang violence? Oh yeah, they get arrested and put out on bail the same day. So please tell me how this is going to make any sort of meaningful difference? It wont.

But yet, they still want to continue with this shit. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again every dam time. The only way to fight this is Mass Non Compliance! Some idiots have already given their legally own and legally obtained property away. Those people are complete morons and one guy got less than half of what he was supposed to get according to the rcmp website. So if they are gonna try n stiff us on a program we never wanted or voted for then fuck them. They dont have the man power to put us all in jail and collect all of our property. If they come to your home to try and collect dont let them in, dont even speak to them, call your nearest local media and have them come over to, then let the police/govt try to explain on live tv EXACTLY how this program is of any benefit and of any help in curbing crime/gang violence. They know its a bold faced lie, id love to watch them squirm trying to legitimize their actions. It was great watching gary try his best.

  19. Just when you couldn’t hate government and their complete and utter incompetence enough. They just use our tax dollars willy nilly, they don’t give two fucks about Canadians. The writing is on the wall. And what do they do? They say they cut tax to make life more affordable, maximum return of ~$400 a year!!

Standard of living is just dwindling away and people seem to be so complacent about it. No one holds leadership accountable at all. In fact, they vote em back in.

Fucking wild times we live in lol

  20. Was this news scheduled to be released today? I ask because the gun stuff usually gets dusted off when a distraction is needed.

Destroyed? What happened to selling them to Ukraine? I find it hard to believe someone said that plan with a straight face
