Unfortunately the article doesn’t go into enough depth the answer questions like „What??“ and „How the fuck did that happen?“

Paramedic here. This is a problem on rare occasions when your patient is agitated or just one of those people. You can of course lock the saloon doors but they can always be opened from the inside for obvious reasons. Often patients can’t figure out how to do it but if you’ve been in an ambulance before it’s easy enough.
We’ve all had patients take their seatbelt off and stand up mid journey, the solution is to shout to the driver to anchor on and then refuse to move until they sit down and belt up. This obviously takes longer and is less safe on a motorway. If they try to exit the vehicle then it gets tricky, we can’t restrain them and if you block the exit you are likely to get assaulted.. also there is another door in the opposite direction they can just use and now you are behind them instead of blocking their way.
I feel for the crew here, quite possibly they did nothing wrong and yet have hit the headlines.
