Tesla’s foothold in Norway is beyond compare. Also, we don’t have an automotive industry of our own to fall back on.
EDIT: I’m trying to explain it, not justify it. I think we should stop buying teslas too.
They are cheap here.
i personally didnt buy one, but several people I know bought one, but when you combine it with a 0% intrest campaign, i can see why they are buying it.
They can be purchased with low interest rates loans, plus everyone has a neighbour that has one, which means, Norway will continue to buy them. Champagne socialists.
Good enough car, starlink and tesla are good products.
People don’t care about elon musk, and he is not a fascist.
That word is used to lightly.
I’m personally certainly not buying tesla, and I’m kind of shocked that it’s still so popular here. It’s a disgrace.
Tesla goes BRRRRRRR.
Price point makes it too good to just overlook. Personal finances are very important in these times. If i can end up with x amount more money at the end of the month, while having a car that has a higher trim level than the competition at the same time. Then it becomes hard to care about the politics of a country thats so far away from us even tho the US is an important geopolitic friend of us.
More money in my wallet at the end of the month is more money to my familys future. Im not passing that up. For now atleast.
What happens on the other side of the world is not going to take precedence over material conditions. Teslas in Norway are a great automobile deal for the price and EV ownership is state incentivized. Ordinarily people who are not perma-online are not going to pay $10000 more just because some billionaire is being a cock on Twitter.
There’s people in full Tesla clothes/merch kit that approach other Tesla owners at charging stations just to talk about Tesla and Musk. This kinda says it all…
Get out of here, absolutely no one cares and Elon isn’t similar to Quisling at all
Most affordable 4×4 EV AND it has 500HP?
Don’t mind if I do!
Hi from Denmark. A lot of people dont buy Teslas anymore after Elon Musk hooked up with Trump … I will never buy a Tesla ..
What has Quisling got to do with Teslas? Noone who bought teslas has betrayed fedrelandet🇳🇴
The goverment subsidised tesla and its charging stations making it a comparativly cheap car looking at other cars in the market. (I think now most of the EL-Cars are subsidised)
Eventhough Norway itself is a rich country the purchasing power of the citizens has lagged behind with inflation and rise of expenses, its in our own best interest not purchasing from that nazi, but the populace will continue to do so untill the subsidies are lifted or the other brands are chatching up with the price of the car.
Be a patriot, by Chinese !
Maybe because it is a good car and Tesla are running campaigns that give lower interest rates and discounts that are big value for people who need a car?
Dont get me wrong, I understand why people react to Elon. Most people I think – also here in Norway – feel disdain towards a billionaire grifter who is openly doing drugs, flirts with fascism/nazi ideology and further enriches himself by supporting the orange man. But I do not think Tesla company at any point has expressed anything close to the same views and political stance as Elon Musk does.
If you want to virtue signal by boycotting every company that has a CEO with political views that you disagree with, there are a lot more than Tesla you have to consider boycotting. Perhaps Norwegians are more capable than the rest of Europe of separating the personal views of the CEO from the product and the company? Or idk, we are maybe just greedy bastards without a moral compass who like a good deal regardless of who runs the company we buy from.
This question has been posed over and over again in this thread. Look it up, you’ll find plenty of reasons.
Why do you shop from Zara and similar brands? People work in slave-like conditions.
Been looking at EV cars for a while now. 4×4 cars you won’t even get close to the deal you get with Tesla. Much cheaper and longer range. Money talks.
We are born with this kind of dual morale, where we are quick to condem someone, until they offer us cheap stuff. Then the boycott, protest and so on isn’t that important anyway. And that is the issue with Tesla. While it might be a premium priced car other places, here in Norway its dirt cheap compared to other vehicles in the same class. Why do you think we are a magnet for all of those China brands?
Whatever your reasons for not liking or liking Tesla, Elon Musk or the like, stop using the word „Quisling“ in settings where it is not applicable. The term „Quisling“ is synonymous with traitor, more specifically in context of the person the word became infamously known for is to sell their country out to another hostile state.
However bad buying a tesla is, it is **not** synonymous with making a radio broadcasted coup to align yourself to an invading hostile nation. Few people if any person in the history of norway has ever since done something so treasonous as to be called a quisling since the original man in 1940.
They’ve already forgotten. Now that he’s being evil out of the public eye, behind the scenes, it’s ok.
Why are you using Reddit, OP? Surely you aren’t supporting the country threatning to annex land from your Danish neighbour.
I bought mine because i had to have an EV at work, and it was simply the best car for the price – the closest competitors was 100k kr more expensive, and had only backwheel drive, smaller trunk, no frunk, etc.
Also this was before the whole Twitter and Trump shenanigans.
I knew Musk was crazy before that, though, but i still had to think about what i could afford.
Simple, most people place money over principles. What did a poster call them? Oh yeah, „normal“ people. Those who only pay attention to their limited bubble of influence.
OP, give me money and I’ll happily buy something to fit your political belief of buying=supporting.
I just hope you never bought chinese goods before, because otherwise you support Xi Jinping.
