Ich schaue mir also seit etwa einem Jahr Filme und Serien im Online-Angebot von ARD und ZDF an, aber heute, wenn ich versuche, sie anzuschauen Asbestwurde ich aufgefordert, mein Alter zu bestätigen.
Ist das eine neue Anforderung oder habe ich einfach noch nie versucht, Inhalte anzusehen, die über 16 Jahre alt sind? Ich gehe davon aus, dass es keinen anderen Ausweg gibt, als bis 22 Uhr zu warten!
Ich lebe in einem Nachbarland und nutze die Online-Angebote, um mein Deutsch zu verbessern.

It’s been a thing for a while.
Always has been there. ARD is legally obliged to do it this way, because the laws that govern it weren’t updated for streaming. It legally counts as watching TV

The verification isn’t particularly secure, as far as I remember. It asks you to type out the birthday from the machine readable part of your ID/Passport, which includes a check digit. It doesn’t actively connect to any database, it’s probably all client-side.
I think that if you know how to calculate the check digit, you can fake birthdays to pass the age verification.
Just register with a German name, that’s fine.
Btw any valid MRZ passes the check (not necessarily one from a real document). The system (also used e.g. by PSN and Blizzard) is plain stupid.
