Unfortunately, the Armenian Catholic Church is “bullied” by the Apostolic one.
This isn’t new, the “competition” has been going on for centuries now. One good example, is the use of “կադողիկէ” (Gatoghige) vs “քադօլիք” (Catholic).
Apostolic church members deliberately used the latter to designate Armenian Catholics, vs the prefered Armenian version of Gatoghige. As a means to differentiate Catholic Armenians as not being Armenians but rather “Europeans”.
Although, in today’s climate such differences do not make much difference (due to Western hegemonic propaganda). The Apostolic church did not defend the Catholic Armenian churches, and left many of them to dust. Much like the mosques.
Famously, the Catholicos of the Armenian apostolic church said in 1992:
>“The presence of the Armenian Catholic Church in Armenia is unacceptable and to be refuted”
Hell, in the late 90’s there was a priest in Lebanon who would scream at Catholic Armenians that they “don’t exist” to their fae lmao.
So if the “arbiter of Armenian culture” (which is designated by many to be the church, and has no strong contender) says that Catholic Armenians are not Armenian culture. Why would anyone care?
