Ist das wirklich Kunst oder eher eine Performance? Meiner Meinung nach ist diese Art von „Kunst“ interessant, regt mich aber auch zum Nachdenken an. Manchmal sieht es so aus, als sei das Kunstwerk bereits fertig und die Person tut nur so, als würde sie arbeiten. Für mich fühlt es sich eher wie eine Show für die Öffentlichkeit an, als wie ein echter künstlerischer Prozess. Dennoch würde ich gerne wissen, was andere Leute über diese Art von Kunst denken.

I also thought it was just a show when I saw it. But I still think it looks pretty cool.
Definitely no art. All of these people doing always the same figure, cause they don’t know anything else. It’s not that smart doing the same thing for years now. At least I can’t believe people are still impressed by the sand dogs.
This ist a scam. This is a model with glued on sand, and then they pretend to work on it to get money. You can step on it and will step on plastic. They were rampant in Europe a few years back, please do not give them money.
This is in Göttingen right? have seen this exact sand structure countless times. Its a scam artist just like the people playing instruments. No real performance.
These sand dogs in particular feel like a scam or something, ive seen that exact thing in multiple cities now

Performances can be art, but what defines art for me is that there is some thought behind it. Things like this don’t usually have that, so to me, they‘re more of a craft. And in this particular case, it’s not even that, but a repetitive scam.
I think this pic is from Wiesbaden or Mainz. same guy has been doing the exact same dog, for at least a decade in various places.
It’s not real art. It’s a mold that they all use. I one saw the very same dog sculpture on 4 different spots on a day from different beggars.
I saw one in Nürnberg which was fake, it’s a mould underneath
This is 100% a scam.
They are just shoveling a teaspoon of sand up and down the rug. The main part of the „art work“ is already made and glued together so that it does not fall apart any more. All the „working“ on it is just the guy scratching in the sand pretending they would need to finish with some touch-ups.
Nobody stays for long enough near these spots to actually watch them build something, and they bet on nobody really caring that much that they stay and wait for the „artist“ to start anew. All they long, passers-by just happen to see the artwork in the last minutes of completion. for ten hours.

They’re everywhere in Italy too, what I don’t get is why everyone is using the exact same dog mold, I’m guessing there must be that dog already made on AliExpress or something and they don’t do other shapes…
