Greece exported it’s food everywhere. People know „Greek food“ in all major cities of the world. No one has heard of Cypriot food when a lot of people don’t even know where Cyprus is or think it’s one of the Greek islands and that our food is „probably Greek anyway“. A lot of Indian scammers think Cyprus is in fact Cypress, California so our dishes are probably burritos and burgers. Such top lists are all about recognition not about objective reality – they reward visibility, not flavour.

Just forget that crap. Those people at „tasteatlas“ are just rolling the dice and then they rely on the patriotic feelings to get comments, likes and traffic on facebook.

    Αγια ολάν.

  4. I lived here for a long time, and I love my Cypriot brothers and sisters – but you have got to dissuade yourselves from the notion the food culture here is any good. It isn’t.

Sure, your grandma makes the best koupes on earth, I believe you – but generally genuinely good dining experienced here are few and far between.

On the bright side, there’s at least 100 counties that don’t even make the list
