  1. What they *say*: „We don’t want a patchwork of state regulation, but a coherent federal regulation“

What they’re trying to *do*: They *know* there’s no federal regulation and there won’t be any anytime soon. They’re just trying to get rid of *all* regulation.

Add on the usual scare tactics of „any regulation will dEStroY thE EcoNOmy“!!!! also „what about scaaaaaaary China?!“

Interesting to me that a certain political party in the United States that has made „states rights“ a huge part of its brand for more than 60 years suddenly does not believe that the states should have any rights on this issue, along with a few others.

Like are they not understanding that screwing everybody means screwing themselves?

  4. Other countries are already moving fast, and if the U.S. steps back, it won’t just be about safety—it’ll be about influence. Whoever sets the standards first shapes how AI is used globally. Skipping regulation now is basically handing that power over to someone else.

The only future these guys want to protect is the one that has their pockets grow more and more.

Americans being used as lab rats for the rest of us. Thank you I guess.

  7. They know once populous liberal states regulate, companies will have to follow those regulations everywhere for simplicity and access to a huge market. Same with posting California cancer warning labels on everything, even outside the state.

  8. Go read “If anyone builds it, everyone dies” and tell me again about how rushing forward protects our future.

If America doesn’t make the intelligent AI models then China will. Regulation is irrelevant.

I disagree, AI is just software engineering. It is just automation and people are mythologizing it. Overregulating it would choke off innovation. I think it’s unfortunate it had to be Trump to say no to overregulating it and now the democrats are just going to take the opposite stance because everything orange man wants to do is bad so we’ll do the opposite.
