Its a data center, I am not that positief they use a lot of cooling and electrical power. And I expect that the leaner Armenian inviromental laws has something to do with the wish to build it in Armenia.
Can’t wait for some in the diaspora to rub this in our faces for the next 100 years in response to justify arf’s actions. Insert „if it weren’t for the diaspora donating/investing in Armenia“ here.
In reality I remember Rev said that it was Pashinyan that told Jenson to invest in Armenia when they met a few years back and Jenson didn’t rule it out. So in that regards, it was Pashinyan that jump started it, and a diaspora startup that snatched the opportunity. Sorry but the title misleading, not necessarily false.
100MW is huge, anyone knows how big the facility (or facilities) is going to be in m²? in comparison: **NTT Frankfurt 1** is over 52,200m² (almost 2x the size of republic square) and uses 80MW. Or the Nvidia chips are very energy consuming compare to traditional data centers?
Is there enough energy production to sustain it tho?
I mean it’s a great chance and definitely can create a lot of new jobs, but is the current energy production and infrastructure able to maintain the supply needed for it to operate optimally?
do we have water and power to spare for the big corp? this is not a win, call me a debbie downer as much as you want
> While the United States still has a strategic influence through the business community and through its controls over chip export licenses, Western Europe is also stepping up its soft power presence in Armenia (and Eastern Europe). The European Union has launched targeted ecosystem-building initiatives in Armenia, aiming to foster education, startup incubation, and regulatory support. While the U.S. traditionally led global entrepreneurial ecosystem development, Europe is now stepping in, supporting Armenian entrepreneurs through grants, mentorship, and integration into European markets.
> The Digitec conference, at which both Afeyan and Lebaradian spoke, was sponsored by federal and local governments, and by EU4Innovation East, a program funded by the EU and the Government of France, implemented by Expertise France. There were more than 30,000 attendees, according to the organizers, including at a nighttime music festival.
Important nuances despite the misleading headline.
I am really glad how Armenia is moving forward. I know there are still hardships but I wish you guys the best. Cheers from your neighbor Georgia!
Thanks to diaspora ? Lol ok thanks. Just don’t remind this for another 150 years. But I highly doubt the diaspora decided anything here.
as if they need it
