Let me start with this so you don’t misunderstand my tone and there are no guesses: **Anastasiades is a dumb fuck.**

    Now let’s proceed.

Everyone is going to read the headline and scream „See! It was the GCs‘ fault!“ but if you actually read the text of the article and the excerpts from Tsipras‘ book, it confirms exactly why the talks failed, and it wasn’t just because of Anastasiades.

    **The article explicitly states:**

    > *“He [Tsipras] added that at the July 6 dinner, **Cavusoglu’s line on guarantees was completely different from what he had conveyed to the UNSG earlier**.“*

    Does anyone need further analysis?
Tsipras confirms that Çavuşoğlu whispered „sweet nothings“ to Guterres privately to look good, but when it came time to actually put it on the table at the critical dinner, **he changed his line.**

This vindicates the assessment that Turkey was bluffing. When the moment of truth came to sign a binding commitment, Turkey refused to commit to the abolition of guarantees.

Now let’s talk about **The „Sunset“ vs. „Review“ Clause (The Real Dealbreaker and where most people lose track).**

The article glosses over the specific technicality that killed the conference.

The Greek/GC side demanded a **Sunset Clause** (Troops leave automatically after X years).

Turkey (at the dinner) insisted on a **Review Clause** (Troops stay, and we „discuss“ later if they leave).

Tsipras confirms that Çavuşoğlu was not willing to accept the immediate/automatic abolition that was required by the Guterres Framework. A „Review Clause“ is effectively a permanent occupation permit, as Turkey would veto its own withdrawal.

And last, **The „Morning After“ Reality Check.**

If Turkey was truly willing to scrap guarantees and Anastasiades was the only obstacle, why did Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu give a press conference the **very next morning** stating:
    > *“We will never accept zero troops and zero guarantees. This is a dream the Greek Cypriots must wake up from.“*

If he accepted it inside the room (as the „Turkey is innocent“ crowd claims), why was he trashing the very concept of it outside the room 8 hours later? The answer is simple: He never accepted it.

    **Conclusion:**

Sure, Anastasiades is a dumb fuck who was a problematic, corrupt leader and may have flirted with a two-state solution behind closed doors. I don’t deny that.

**But Turkey gave him the perfect excuse.**

If Turkey had slammed a paper on the table saying *“We accept the Sunset Clause, all troops out in 3 years,“* Anastasiades would have been cornered. The UN/EU would have forced him to sign.

Turkey *didn’t* do that. By refusing to kill the guarantees they handed Anastasiades the escape route he wanted.
Blame Anastasiades for his corruption, sure. But don’t rewrite history to pretend Turkey was a benevolent angel willing to end the occupation. Tsipras‘ own book confirms they changed their tune when it mattered.

Anastasiadis a corrupt pos. But tsipras is full of shit. They re trying really hard with this propaganda to rebrand him because they got nobody to challenge mitsotakimpeis who has effectevily pillaged everything for his gang of thieves and mafiosos. But this rewriting of history and this classical excuse making and blaming everyone around him and talking shit about everyone he brought in the government to launder his shortcomings and his betrayal of Greece is vomiting and inexcusable.his book is just concentrateed shit trying to clean him of his own stench. Fuck him
