While I am absolutely not a fan of Pete Hegseth, I am an Eagle Scout, which I earned in the late 1980s. I also spent seven years of my life from my late teens into my early 20s working in the BSA at large summer camps.

When the BSA decided to admit women and change the focus of the organization away from men and boys, I was more than offended, and therefore do not blame Hegseth for terminating this relationship. The BSA has lost its way and it sacrificed its values and core beliefs in an effort to try and gain membership numbers due to the huge settlement that was reached regarding pervasive pedophilia in the organization over the years. It’s simply disgusting that they decided to do so and to degrade the rank that so many men and boys have earned.

I even went so far as to take my Eagle Scout designation off of my résumé.
