Santa Fe, Oklahoma City, Denver, Cheyenne, Topeka and Lincoln all lie at shorter distances from Dalhart than Austin does. This reflects the shape of Texas itself, with a long stretch between the Panhandle and the centre of the state. The geography of the region places Dalhart closer to these capitals simply because they sit around the edges of the High Plains in a tighter cluster.
Texas is too big. It should be broken into more states.

there are similar towns in the western tip of Virginia – closer to 5 or 6 other state capitals than to Richmond.
The real question I have from that map is whether Florida has any cities closer to another state capital than Tallahassee.
I know they have cities closer to multiple capitals of other nations than to Tallahassee.
