It’s somewhat larger than I would have thought. Though most of Japan’s population is crammed into a coastal strip about the same size in area as the Northeast Megalopolis (Portland, Maine, through Boston, NYC, and DC, to Richmond and Norfolk Virginia), but greater in population.

This will really help as a breakwater for the east coast

Just wish you could have done it without squishing the Everglades

    3. I mean there’s like 120 million people in Japan. I would hope it is fairly large

    4. Guangdong province is roughly the same area as Honshu Island of Japan and has comparable populations. There’s more fertile land and more flat land, but still dense.

    5. Fun fact: a bit further South than New York, there is the city of Aomori. It’s the snowiest city in the world and it receives over 6 metres of snow a year

this is about the same longitude, so there’s probably not much, or any, distortion, but if you cut and paste land masses on a mercator projection to compare sizes, the results can be inaccurate.
