What the ever loving fuck, this simply shows who’s part of the new axis of evil (I really think we should turn that phrase around) – Argentina, Nicaragua, Israel, Papua New Guinea, USA and Russia. Allies in torture.

Hmm i see a tiny red spec in the middle east i wonder what that is🤔🤔🤔

Countries like China, North Korea and Saudi Arabia voting „yes“ is pretty fucking rich.

I guess they think that going against torture is going against freedom itself. Libertarianism and all these lookalike doctrines understand freedom the same way. Freedom for those on the upper ladder to abuse those on the lower.

Some context: most of these „The US was the only country to vote against strangling puppies“-UN resolutions exist not because the US loves strangling puppies, but because they generally don’t like to be subjected to any UN rules, non-binding as they may be.

People really laughing at the US, Argentina and Israel vote against, while this is true and they should be laughed about,

Don’t forget about most of the world who still practices tortures but voted for to give them a good images of themselves (Most of the Middle-East, Iran, China, North Korea, etc…)

    7. Why tf would anyone vote no on ts? Like how do u even argue against banning torture? (I know these votes do jack shit but this still confuses me)

Another meaningless UN vote in which half, if not more, of the countries actively do what they’re voting to ban.

    9. All those UN votes are always like “RESOLUTION TO GIVE EVERYONE A KITTEN and install world police” and people wonder why some are against it.

Your daily reminder that UN resolutions mean nothing. North Korea banning torture? Yeah okay and call me when hell freezes over.

    11. Too many people take these meaningless UN resolutions voted for by countries who immediately violate them anyway too seriously.

Why don’t we just vote for maximum utility for everyone in the UN and watch it magically happen?

Russia has done torture in the past, I’m assuming to Abstain is just being neutral in terms of foreign policy.

The United States must end so that the world can live in peace and thrive.

    15. Torture is already forbidden under international law, under ICCPR art. 7, which applies to the countries who voted against this. It’s also recognised as a jus cogens norm, so it applies universally. This vote does not make sense, since there’s no legal benefit. I also cannot find this resolution anywhere.

Oh boy, another one of these? What was the UN going to have the US do this time, within this definitely not misleading resolution title?
