Is it possible that there’s a big hill/elevation change here that distorts the line on google maps?

A river changes course but the state line does not. It’s the river asserting its dominance.

West Virginia is taking a few feet to start with, by the time they’re done they’re going to have miles of Ohio. Time to stop them is now.

    4. The borders on Google Maps aren’t accurate or verified. Likely what happened here is the dotted line was based on a plot of the river bank, but the photo is from a a different time (like, now” when the riverbank doesn’t match the old maps anymore.
