Sounds like a good idea, but compared to Europe it is not that much of an encouragement. I mean 500.000 dram is about 1200 euro if I am correct. Its not a fair comparison but in Holland we get this every year and in Germany and Belgium its higher.
If there would be a yearly amount untill 18 that would work better to encourage childbirths.
This boost won’t change anything. Too small to make any difference. Also, the state should encourage not the first birth but next ones.
I was reading about the subsidy program Egypt had, giving basically free food depending on how many children you have. That cut so much transactional cost like the parents having to actually think what they will do with the money (and avoiding abuse obviously). This pushed fertility rate to the sky basically, and while it did bankrupt the country to be fair, this was because their gov did not stop the program when fertility was 4+ which was obviously dumb.
Not perfect for sure, but we should maybe consider a limited trial in some areas and see how it works
We need the number of women who don’t have kids because of financial reasons. There is indication that Armenia still has a significant number of such women (unlike in many other places). So, hopefully we can at least get to replacement levels.
