Isn’t Japanese for football just“サッカー“ ? Which is just a transliteration of the word soccer, being a loanword from English and even sounds like the word soccer just with a japanese accent essentially

    2. Only in parts of Bosnia it’s commonly known as something other than “fudbal”

Technically in Hungary it’s officially called labdarúgás. Although futball is very common, it’s not the official term

    4. It’s largely football in NZ these days, used to be soccer, but it changed. Maybe that’s why we have a red stripe through the middle?

    5. The English came up with “soccer” and want to act like Americans are idiots for using it.

    6. This is extremely wrong for Korea.

They call it 축구 (chukgu), which is Sino-Korean word that literally means „kick-ball“.

It’s calls bóng đá in Vietnam. Bóng = ball, đá = kick. And bóng bầu dục for american football. Bầu dục = oval

Croats say „nogomet“ which is like leg-put in the modern language but foot-propel with more historical understandings of the root words.

      in chinese「足球 」(zú qiú).

in japanese, ordinary people call it 「サッカー」(soccer), and they know also the word 「フットボール」(football). and there’s another word for the game「蹴球」(shuu-kyuu) in japanese (meaning: kicking ball), but very rare to use.

If I remember correctly you can find the literal word „soccer“ in the Stadium that West Ham United used to play in Upton Park

If all those non-English speaking countries are under football, Japan should be under soccer.

Worth mentioning that England named it soccer after deciding that “association football” was a dumb name before exporting it and *then* deciding it was football after all.

I’ve heard it being called Soccer on British TV and also on Japanese TV.

Depends where you are in Australia
I grew up in Sydney where it’s football.
Mind you we have 4 codes of football in Australia.
