Hallo zusammen, ich bin etwas verwirrt und könnte einen Rat gebrauchen. Ich habe kürzlich eine Mitteilung erhalten, in der ich aufgefordert wurde, den Militärdienst in Zypern abzuleisten. Ich bin eine Frau, und soweit ich weiß, sind Frauen normalerweise nicht zum Dienst verpflichtet.
Im letzten Jahr hatte ich aufgrund meines Bachelorstudiums bereits eine Befreiung beantragt und einen entsprechenden Nachweis erbracht. Diese Ausnahme scheint jedoch abgelaufen zu sein. Hinzu kommt, dass ich in den letzten 5 Jahren nicht mehr auf Zypern gelebt habe.
Hat das noch jemand erlebt? Gibt es eine offizielle Regelung, dass Frauen zum Militärdienst verpflichtet werden können? Ich möchte nur sicherstellen, dass ich verstehe, was vor sich geht und welche Möglichkeiten ich habe.

I think they are asking you to serve in civil defense. That’s different than the military. I think everyone who does not serve in the military does it and it’s just some lessons on first aid etc as far as I know
Touzhane street (Tuzhane) indicate that’s Turkish title land. Pretty sure the owner not agreed on a military or civil defence registration center on his land.

It’s not military service. It’s civil service. It’s random- some women are randomly selected for it. Afaik most of them ignore it(?- someone confirm). I had a friend who did it though (but that’s because her dad was an army officer).
Civil deffence is a 2 service with 1 hour lecture every month on first aid and repsponces to earthquake, floods etc. and also one sort of an exercise/ patrol after an earthquake.If you can its best to go in person and sort it out or via email if you are abroad. and in greek preferably.The officers and the structure of the civil deffence is all based on volunteers.
