      It’s one of our traditional alphabets, it’s more convenient than Cyrillic, and it’s very beautiful – yes it’s worth using where it’s suitable, hope it’ll catch on.

      Berusian is a beautiful language no matter how you write it. There’s no special benefit in using latin alphabet instead of Cyrillic. Aside from being culturally further from Russians, Bulgarians and Ukrainians.
      Belarusian on the other hand is so rarely used in the country that spelling it differently will make no difference. The first step should be using the language at all.

      Yes. More over, łacinka is more convenient for Belarusian gramatics, than official cyrillic alphabet.

      Maybe I’m subjective cause I always used the Latin alphabet, but belarusian in the Latin alphabet is very interesting. This could be adopted in case it fits better for the language than cyrillic or as a political statement to cut the ties with expansionist Russia.

      Рэалістычна — не. Нават для людзей што свабодна валодаюць беларускай не так проста прывыкнуць да іншага алфавіту. Перапісаць падручнікі, перадрукаваць кнігі занадта дорага і складана. Рэалістычна было бы зрабіць стандарт і карыстацца для шыльдачак, назваў вуліц, крамаў і г.д. Але мы ўжо бачылі што адбылося з лацінкай у метро — без зменаў у грамадстве нічога не атрымаецца.

      This may be an unpopular opinion, but, in my view, no, the Latin alphabet should not be used because its use will create an unnecessary obstacle to popularization of the Belarusian language inside Belarus.

      Right now, most people in Belarus speak Russian in their daily lives. The goal (once Lukashenko is dead and buried) should be to gently transition them to bilingualism so that they (a) are equally capable of using both languages, and (b) are accepting of people who choose to use Belarusian exclusively. Using the Latin alphabet is going to make this much more difficult because Russian-speaking Belarusians are going to have a visceral reaction to it as something foreign (even though historically it’s not). Finding an equilibrium in a multilingual country is hard enough without introducing extra things to fight about.

      A lot of people would vote for latin alphabet for the sake of being closer to other western european countries, but the example of Turkiye and other non-latin-rooted languages shows that it doesn’t make a huge difference in terms of learning/understanding – each of those letters might have its own unique modifiers and pronontiations.

      IMO one of the biggest benefits is that Cyrillic has all of the slavic-specific sounds as separate letters, which is easier and more convenient to use daily. So I’d say no. But I do understand that it mostly the matter of preference – fellow polish/czech people would prefer „szcz“/šč instead of „щ“.

      Looking at the Polish language and seeing how that turned out…. No, no I don’t think Belarusian should adopt it. Plus Cyrillic script just looks better

      I think we can use both.
      Personally I would prefer kirrilic for belarusian.
      It can be voted elsewhere later.

      In my opinion it would be more convenient if Belarusian was already using Latin alphabet, but considering the cost, time and effort required to move from Cyrillic, it is simply not worth it.

      PS: However, only if it could be made to work without diacritics. This would obviate the need for yet another keyboard layout.

      The Latin tradition is useless to those who long for the „national revival“ just because of the fact that Cyrillic tradition of writing our language exists for like 10 centuries and Latin for like 3 at max, so it isn’t beneficial, and those who don’t care just speak russian. Like, it’s nice to be able to, I can show some texts in Belarusian to Polish people and they can understand, but other than that…

      As Polish, reading Latin version I understand way more than reading a text in pure silesian or kashubian dialect of Polish xD

      All countries should accept the extended Latin script in paperwork and teach it to children along with Arabic digits. Personally, I like the Bulgarian system a bit more because it has separate letters for many basic sounds. In the extended Latin script, there are small marks above letters, which look messy, as you can see in this newspaper. But in the end, it doesn’t really matter, because Latin has already won, and we should accept it like as Type-c
