In Griechenland ist eine 3-Zimmer-Wohnung mit 350€/Monat viel zu teuer. Was ist hier passiert?

  1. Why would anyone pay this? I don’t understand the value proposition, even for the „rich (but stupid) foreigner“ archetype. Why not live somewhere else instead of in a shitty 2-bedroom apartment in an aesthetically disfigured building? How does any market act this retarded?

But housing prices in Cyprus have only gone up 12% according to the stats…. LOL

As a newly relocated foreigner , the prices of the apartments are quite insane but you can still find decent apartments for 1200-1500 but with bills and everything it still goes up to 2000+ My monthly apartment + bills here is the same as in Denmark which is a bit odd but the weather and beaches compensate.

  4. This is not the price of the rent, it’s the price no one wants to pay. Otherwise they would rent it out already.

  5. You should compare Limassol to Athens. A 1-minute search shows that average rent for a 3-bedroom in Athens is 1200. And probably quite above that for a central location and decent quality.

Just because it’s listed at that price doesn’t mean they will actually find someone crazy enough to pay it. Often such cases are „well, I don’t really want to rent this but if I can get this much money I’ll let it go“.

The prices are high, but if you look at what salaries are for professionals in Limassol then the prices are fine. If you make several thousands a month, one or two on rent is fine.

And yes, some cafes / bars in Limassol charge more per drink / pastry than places in London / Paris / Copehagen

  8. This is not greece? Why would it be similar to greece in any way shape or form?

They do. A lot of people in Limassol are making over 5k a month. It’s really buffing that you’re all suddenly surprised.

  10. Most of those properties are mortgaged heavily and you’re basically paying the loan

You will not find a 3 room apartment in Greece for less than 600€/month, unless it is in a remote village. I don’t know where you got your numbers.
