Man, people are weird. Let me break it to you: warranty in Moldova is a joke. Warranty in general is a joke, but here it’s just terrible almost always. That’s one point.

Doesn’t mean you should just buy without a second thought, but good gravy do people actually waste money shopping in Darwin or Enter or Ultra thinking they’re getting a better „service“. That’s the second point.

Just feeding the assholes who run these shops with crazy markups.

Ultra is the biggest joke around when it comes to retail. They hold many other places hostage for distribution (they actually are the biggest distributor for all kinds of electronics in Moldova).

Most companies on this list take their merchandise from Ultra’s distribution branch.

Now notice how much lower some of them sell. You know why? They don’t hold „the biggest showroom in Moldova“ and thus don’t need to mark up like crazy to turn profit.

Also select few have their own distribution chains outside Ultra. I think Atehno runs separately, but it’s mostly hearsay on my side through acquaintances. I don’t work with them or associate with them in any official capacity.

Maybe one day we’ll have more large distributors since we’re now in EFTA, which lowers the barrier for electronics imports among other things… Which subsequently makes Ultra even more assholish and greedy than they already were.

This place needs competition in many spaces, it’s just unfortunate everyone’s piss poor and there’s no real market to build anything remotely at scale locally. Those who are savvy will import themselves, those who are clueless will buy at Enter, Darwin or Ultra and other such hyped places. C’est la vie.
