  1. i wonder if it works with every bank or if fare is much higher to compensate for visa/mastercard processing fee

  2. Yeah but it’s not going to work if you have a foreign bank card. You have to use the terminals and buy a Telcell metro card if you’re using a foreign bank card.

    London or.. Tokyo?

Brother, no you can’t tap your phone. You also can’t use foreign cards in any capacity. And yes, they did advertise this feature. It also only works half the time with half the cards, only physical cards and only Armenian. Half of Armenian physical cards work half the time.

London and Tokyo, man. Even the Moscow transport system is so many universes ahead of this it’s insane. Hell, even Georgia.

Also, when you top up your transport card in the terminal it’s not even instant. I usually have to wait up to 5 minutes for it to work.

Oh and – congratulations. Your passport you filled into the TellCell app. It’s now probably data being sold to the highest bidder.

The authors of this fucking reform should be in jail. London or Tokyo.

  4. I don’t think it works with your phone/apple pay/google pay. At least not yet. And afaik, foreign cards are still not accepted which does make it extremely annoying for non-citizens to use our public transport.

doesn’t work with foreign credit cards (germany based). I still have to go to the ticket machine and get a printed ticket. which works pretty well with these credit cards though

  6. My inecobank visa card doesn’t work. I tried talking to their support, didn’t help.

  7. This new system is so brilliant I made a Telcell card top-up walkthrough video for my friends in Tbilisi.

Like, what do they need my phone number for? And no, the payment terminal does not accept 50 AMD coins + there will be no change, so you have to pay in multiples of 300 AMD. What if I only need one trip before I leave the city? Sorry pal.

And of course, the cherry on top of the cake — the 30-minute usage ban. Therefore, if I come to Yerevan with a family, I have to get a card for each of us and top-up the cards one after another in increments of 300.

  8. This system sucks.
I also remember that you couldn’t buy card without filling in mobile number in terminal.
Thou you could always fill random number. Also Hell lot of time my card with subscribtion was getting rejected.

  9. Also fun fact, new car wash self service terminals accept google/apple pays lol
    But this company still can’t implement/configure it…

  10. I was patient with the city and defended the system when they first introduced it and we all had to buy QR codes. Now that it’s been like a year and my foreign card still doesn’t work and you have to wait a few minutes after loading your Telcell card before you can even use it I am firmly on the „this shit fucking sucks“ camp. Also tickets expire after 3 days so you can’t bulk load your card. What the hell man.

  11. dumb poster..

by NFC means the most popular MOBILE nfc type, not just card tapping…

  12. Bank cards do work, but not always. Also, if you’re with your child that requires a fare( I think 6+) you can’t use your card a second time. As a result of this banks now have starterd issuing cards to minors. There was a bank sales rep at Zangak bookstore the other day poaching kids to sign up for a card.

Also you can’t use your phone to Google/Apple pay. So no digital cards.
