Wieder einmal ein spektakulärer Unfall auf der "Bergstraße",
Diese Straße ist voll von langsamen Lastwagen und vielen ungeduldigen Fahrern, die in den Kurven überholen. Oft handelt es sich bei diesen rücksichtslosen Fahrern um Taxifahrer (auf dem Weg vom Flughafen zu den Casinos). Die Straße selbst ist durch die schweren Fahrzeuge abgenutzt.
Auf dieser Straße vergeht keine Woche ohne Unfall. Während die Idioten, die in riskanten Manövern überholen, ihr Leben aufs Spiel setzen, sind auch andere unschuldige Menschen in Gefahr.
Die TRNC-Regierung unternimmt NICHTS. Während mit Unterstützung türkischer Gelder weitere neue Straßen gebaut werden, ist diese Straße völlig vergessen. Sie unternehmen nichts, nicht einmal Low-Budget-Maßnahmen wie Kameras oder Beschilderung.
Das ist nicht nur eine Schimpftirade. Dies soll die Menschen vor dieser Straße warnen, insbesondere diejenigen, die mit der Gegend nicht vertraut sind, darunter griechische Zyprioten und Touristen.
Wenn Sie diese Straße benutzen müssen, seien Sie vorsichtig und fahren Sie besser vor jeder Kurve langsamer. Man weiß nie, ob man hinter der nächsten Kurve einem Idioten gegenübersteht, der auf der eigenen Spur überholt.

its so bad that many people just take longer routes.
I’m sure that road is a hazard, but drivers in Cyprus are also a bloody menace.

Not Cyprus’s most dangerous road… Cyprus’s most dangerous driver… I would take their license away for at least 2 years!

Only an idiot would overtake on a curve at that speed.
It’s of course the fault of the drivers, not the fault of the road. But it’s a fact that most accidents happen on this particular road.
There are two more major mountain passes over the Pentydactylos; the main one between Nicosia and Kyrenia over the Bogaz, and the one between Gecitkale/Lefkoniko and Tatlisu/Akantou. Both have speed cameras. Neither of them are that much accident-prone.
i drove on that road, i can confirm, it is highly highly dangerous. Please all drivers on their way to casinos, be careful on that road and be patient.
This isn’t the roads fault, I have this type of overtaking happens to me at least once a week, and I see it happen to others multiple times per week. As long as aggressive isn’t punished we have no hope of the score getting better.

Doesn’t matter how dangerous that road is but that guy is an idiot, overtaking on a bend down a hill 🤣.
I know this is a controversial subject in this sub but the government needs to apply stricter penalties on driving laws. The installation of the cameras was a good start in my honest opinion and yes I have paid fines.
If someone is on the phone while driving they need to immediately lose their license.
If someone is drinking a frappe AND eating a mix sandwich on the highway, they need to lose their license.
When someone uses the wrong lane on the roundabout because there is too much traffic, only to overtake me ON the roundabout to take the wrong exit, they need to lose their license.
If someone has their child standing in the car without a seat belt, better they lose their license than their child.
When someone has been waiting at a roundabout for at least 4 minutes so they decide it’s ok to pull out I front of someone because it must be their turn now, bam! license.
Also people over the age of 60 should be required to retake their test.
Slowly slowly hopefully the roads can become safer in Cyprus, when more idiots lose their licenses.

Its not the road that is dangerous, it’s the drivers. Cypriot drivers are not good drivers in anyway.
That trucker should be charged with attempted murder, no reason to turn like that trying to block the car.
It’s in the occupied north so despite legal Cyprus’ bad drivers i don’t expect anything else from the 3rd world.
