  1. The disgusting mindset that not only celebrates human suffering and the ethnic cleansing of non-Turks from Anatolia but even uses it to joke/make fun of it. Utterly disgusting, especially when it comes from a „superstar player“ (who may even be considered a role model for whatever reason)

(on the other hand I don’t see why I wrote the last part, seeing what the nationalists fans from both sides were posting on social media, this is 100% representative of them)

Edit: I have Turkish friends who also made this joke, Ik it’s popular in Turkey – still doesn’t make it any less insensitive or disgusting to me

They don’t even give an actual fuck about their country’s situation btw. They’re only pandering through this performative nationalism

Opposition party’s future candidate has been in the jail for MONTHS. Police beat up and sexually harassed students during protests this year. And they’re forcefully putting a trustee on the opposition party now. Have you ever seen a sportsmen from Turkey talking about this? Absolutely not! They don’t care if their country is turning into a dictatorship. They just want their fat paycheck from the government and Turkish people’s sympathy.

That’s why I usually despise sports, especially in countries like Turkey. It distracts people

Can someone explain too autistic for this. Is it supposed to be in speech to Greeks “isn’t the sea weather nice (because we poured you over)” or is it we poured the greeks over “wouldn’t the sea weather be nice (because we are next to the sea experiencing sea weather)”

Turk here. I was really glad what Coach Ataman and Cedi Osman have done in Greece. They see love and respect there. And Ataman many times mentioned that he is happy to contribute friendship between two countries. ım not gonna argue with you about historical events. You have your ideas, so we. They teach you some stuff at school, at home and even in songs or jokes so we too.But I guess we are losing at that point. Match was good for turkey. Even they were dissapointted greek players except one; were kind. They accept failure like real men. ı think this post a bitter taste for Turkish basketball fans. Alperen should have thanked to rival, and wish em luck for 3th place like a real man. Anyway.
