      Everyone teasing them, but China’s really pulled their finger out lately, while America’s been busy tariffing itself into the ground.

      Not to mention history. Anyone who’s been technologically and militarily superior tends to just take over.

      Oh, let’s see if it even does anything. We got a sneak peak at Russia’s new generation weapons. Little 20k floating drones had more effect. Realistically, building something for hundreds of millions in a drawn out war that’s lost in mere seconds isn’t feasible. I see the new generation, just all tiny little killer drones. Easy to create, deploy and unload pay load. One of those can probably pay for a 10k-50k batch of smaller killer drones blocking the sky of light just going from city to city just running it down.

      Likely a clone, using American Parts bin to recreate. No secret they make clones of: F16, F35, F15, etc…etc….etc.

      NOTE: For all you Chinese Bots and Troll. You can’t truly have innovation, if your government decides you have too much influence or free thinking. That real innovation, challenges Dictatorship and Authoritarianism. Just look at what happen to Hong Kong and all those Tech Billionaires, where are they now? In the fold.

      China is skipping the stage of building gobs of aircraft carriers and the like. IMO this type of tech they’re building is a lot more bang for the buck. I believe their whole doctrine is meant to counter our advantages.

      Lots of China bashing here.

      I’m no fan, I’ll tell you that.

      But I will also tell you this: my Dad, an immigrant who ended up a high-end academic in a large and semi-prestigious US University in hard sciences, spent a month in China in 2024.

      What he reported to me was fairly un-nerving if you want to see the American led Hegemony continue: the Chinese, who in the past were incapable of innovation **were now innovating**. This, along with their embracing of AI and clear direction from the central Government and sheer numbers of scientists, engineers, etc is going to make the next few years interesting.

      He also said the technology permeating society across the board was staggering and made comparably sized US cities look like primitive in comparison.

      I sincerely hope that the Pentagon shares the same sentiment as everyone here. The U.S. military, much like in the 1990s, should be capable of challenging the entire world both in terms of scale and capability. Due to inertia, the public remains intoxicated with past glories, and such unrealistic expectations have deified the military. However, as we all know, gods cannot bleed. Once a god bleeds, it ceases to be a god. I am afraid that many people here would quickly shift from expecting a swift victory to fearing a rapid defeat. The Pentagon likely has a clear understanding of the global situation and its own capabilities. If they were truly so optimistic, the Russian military would not still be in Ukraine, and Iran would not still be under the control of the clerical establishment. Just think of figures like Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi.

      For those who think that China is a lightweight, China has a manned space station – no other single country has that. The USA had Skylab, but it was only occupied for about 24 weeks in ’73/74. China’s space station has been continuously occupied since June 2022.

      China does technology very well.

      Does anyone know if a laser weapon to zap drones is feasible, being developed or in production? To me is looks like a good counter against the Shahed/Geran type drones. Mount it on a warplane a sweep the skies like in the rts game Command and conquer.

      This could be more of a story about china losing a major competitor in international trade and because of that this is a small part of its efforts to attract investors.

      After seeing Russia and Irans performance in recent times I’m not trusting the military of any country that hasn’t actually cut their cut teeth in a modern war. Especially ones where there is a culture of graft and fear to admit mistakes

      Not saying China is good or bad, but it is crazy what a country can do when billionaires aren’t actively trying to incite imaginary culture wars with one hand while holding vacuum cleaners of wealth with the other.
