More than 7,000 Christians had been killed in Nigeria during the first 220 days of 2025, a civil-society watchdog said.

This is an average of 35 killings a day, according to the recent report published by the Nigeria-based human-rights NGO International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety).

Newsweek has contacted the Nigerian Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and National Human Rights Commission via email for comment.

Nigeria has long been an epicenter of Christian persecution, with more Christians killed for their faith in Nigeria than in the rest of the world combined, according to human rights organization Open Doors, which monitors the persecution of Christians around the globe.

We should send out highest ranking Christian spiritual leaders over there to use their power of prayer and good news to convince the killers to stop. We can send an airbus full of politicians and mega church pastors. Imagine what they could fix there, as powerful and connected to God as they are.

Maybe stop trying to force your religion on people who already have one?

    6. We need to load up all these Christian nations on planes and just drop them off over there. “Thoughts and Prayers!”

People really do be out here killing each other for their imaginary friends

    8. Can people just stop killing each other over differing faith or race. Is it really that hard?

Brohim unless you can edit your title to say israel did it, no one cares and this will be forgotten (assuming its remembered by anyone at all) within a day.

    10. I think a lot of people here lack context to the killings. This is not a government sponsored purge of Christians, but is the work of mostly extremists Islamic groups operating in northern Nigeria.

      Edit:

Also, about half of Nigeria’s population is Christian btw

With all the foreign aid cuts by the US earlier this year you are going to see more and more reports like this.

Areas with little resources will start fighting more and more as those resources become more scarce.

Foreigners and minority groups will be the first ones targeted when violence breaks out.

    13. There won’t be an uproar on Reddit because Muslims did it to Christians. If it was the other way around tho. Where are all the “iT’s a HuMaNiTaRiAn iSsUe” folks.

Huh, it’s almost like Christian’s did something really bad there…

    15. Their All Powerful yhwh seems to be ok with it, it’s just a couple of his religions hacking it out like they’ve done for a couple millennia.

Unfortunately all this religious shit overflows onto us nonbelievers.

This is why Redditors are mostly trash human beings, this will not be a topic much discussed but if it were the other way around it would be everywhere for the next few months. You people are soulless.
