>He added that the money raised by the new tax will be spent on “the basic maintenance and cleaning of rainwater pipes, many of which have never been cleaned
I have two questions: why were they never cleaned before and why isn’t this already included in the sewage tax or in the municipality tax?
On another note, shortly after I got a dog and registered her with the Nicosia Municipality (there’s a mandatory dog tax in Nicosia), almost all the pet waste bins in my area (Platy, Aglantzia) were removed.
I wonder what amazing improvements this new rainwater tax has in store for us.
Why for rainwater? Why not for sunlight? Cyprus has more sunny days, not rainy days. Smells like lost profit.
Snow should be taxed separately from hail.
Rainwater tax? Huh😭

Bring in the toga toga tax
Probably the worst roof tile capping I’ve seen to date. «Ναι, φόρο της βροχής, όμως, εσσιεί τζαι σσιερότερα, μπορεί να ήσουν ιδιοκτήτης αυτής της οροφής».
I was expecting this to happen eventually after the conglomeration of municipalities. This is probably just a test for other „small“ local taxes.
And I’m sure it will start happening all over Cyprus.
