      Culturually – men do still have yearnings to serve and contribute to a greater good. I think part of the fertility problem is we havent adequately framed becoming a father, having lots of kids, and being an active part of their lives as presently one of the highest acts of service a man can do for his country at the moment (in the west).

      Lets use mens willingness to be part of something bigger than themselves to put ourselves on a better demographic footing and take the load off of women who have very clearly been opting out of doing this alone.

      Paternity leave contributes to better marriages, more capable adults and lower crime rates as adults.

      There’s good research out there that shows that men who take any parental leave at all are more involved fathers throughout their kids’ childhoods – they know who their teachers and friends are, take on daycare pickups and dropoffs, make some of the doctors’ and dentist appointments, and so on. Obviously there’s some causality to unpack, but making it possible for men to take leave and creating conditions where it’s culturally accepted or even better, expected is likely not just to increase the birth rate but to make families happier and healthier
