  1. Wtf, guessing whoever was asked has never heard of Cyprus ? I get it we are small

  2. The kind of stats that make you realize a table is total nonsense.

    We are first and last?

The ratings are based on pure numbers and don’t reflect the actual quality of the food. So I guess it makes sense that a country that is so small would still be in the top 50.

  4. According to who? Is there any scientific way to measure the „taste“? They are just baiting the people around the world.

  5. This has been posted at least 3 times before on this sub with the exact same pretext.

To reiterate the explanation: the rankings are based on the average score of various dishes categorized under each country’s cuisine on this specific website. The ratings are also based on tasting them at specific restaurants, so the ranking is susceptible to selection bias.

In the case of Cyprus, it lacks most of its unique dishes, some dishes are included but not rated, and it even includes dishes totally absent from Cypriot cuisine (labneh). I believe they have removed the latter from their list since then, but the rating here is the same as before the change.

TL;DR: The criteria for judgement are subjective and poorly quality-controlled, and the lists of food aren’t comprehensive and/or contain errors.

america at 13 higher than countries like south korea and thailand is craaazy

  7. I’m from the USA and having been here in Cyprus for awhile I can assure you this is ass. The food here in Cyprus is amazing. It’s been refreshing to eat non processed shit that’s fresh and handmade/homemade at restaurants.

    impossible.

or are we too biased to even know, i refuse to believe…

BS list. Netherlands like Canada doesn’t even have a cuisine. Dutch say so themselves

  10. I’m an American living back in the US after some years in the island and I would do a lot of things to get some good sheftalia and halloumi

England being 48 is insane. Shouldn’t have even cracked the top 100. We eat like we’re still in WWII.

  12. I was very surprised to go to Cyprus and realize the food is so different. That has been a major drawback for me (together with the rocky, shallow beaches). But yeah, Greek food and Cypriot food are not similar, unfortunately

Maybe they are pnly using original cyprua dishes and not Greek ones? Could be

  14. I went to Greece for a wedding, after only really being introduced to Greek food through Cyprus. I was so disappointed in Greek food compared. After talking to a couple people they brought up the point that Cypriot food uses more spices than Greek food due to more Middle-Eastern influences over its occupations. They nailed it on the head, everything I had in Greece was missing something. To have Cyprus this low on the list is laughable, hands down best potatoes on earth as well.

  15. No wonder! Throwing mas production meat on the grill is not Art.

For example ask a waiter which kind of Mushrooms those would be because i prefer to avoid the Button Mushrooms and the last one answered the ones from the can.

Makes no sense that Greece is first and Cyprus the last one, we literally have the same dishes or at least very similar ones. The difference is small.

Greece is #1 and Cyprus is #50. The two cuisines are pretty much the same. Suspect list.

  18. goes to show you the legitimacy of these stupid rankings, best according to who
